According to Grasse's design, the electrical energy generated by the suspended generator is guided to the ground through a fixed tether rope. In addition to this tether, the generator does not require any additional controls. Grasse conducted several flight experiments and eventually improved the shape of the suspended airship so that the airship can use the wind direction and wind speed more efficiently. “Generators can raise themselves into the air to find wind power and do not need access to any control system. The generator's housing and fins are designed according to aerodynamic principles, allowing the generator to find wind power autonomously, even if the wind direction changes. ”

Due to the elimination of the traditional wind turbine tower, its cost is lower. Adam Ryan, the co-inventor of the generator, said that because of the economical and easy operation of this generator, it is mainly aimed at places without grid coverage. In addition, it can also provide more convenience for rescue work in the affected areas. . “We don't need to look for locations where there is sunlight or wind power. This type of generator was designed primarily to provide cheap and sustainable energy to areas without grids.”

Currently, the company that Glass and Ryan co-founded has already cooperated with the U.S. energy agency in Alaska and plans to take the first suspended-type wind turbine to the sky later this year.
